This Summer, I Fell in Love with the Little Things
This Summer, I Fell in Love with the Little Things ππ
I don’t know exactly when it happened, but at some point this summer… I just started smiling more.
Not for photos. Not for anyone else. Just… because I was genuinely happy in these tiny, silly, magical little moments.
Nothing big happened. I didn’t go on a dream vacation or meet the love of my life. But somehow, I felt full. Calm. Grateful.
So I wanted to write about it — not because it was “perfect,” but because it felt real.
☀️ Waking Up to Sunlight (Not an Alarm)
Let me tell you something: there is nothing better than waking up to the sun gently shining through your curtains, hearing birds outside, and realizing you have nowhere to be. No alarm. No rush.
Just... a slow, soft morning. Pajamas, bare feet on the floor, sleepy eyes, and cold water with lemon. It felt like peace.
π Strawberries from the Farmer’s Market
I don’t even care if this sounds basic: the strawberries I bought in June literally changed my life π
They were so red. Like, glowing red. And they smelled like summer. I sat on the grass and ate them with my fingers, and juice got all over my hands, and I didn’t even care.
It made me feel like a kid again.
π§ Walking Around with My Summer Playlist
There’s something about walking alone with headphones on that feels like being in a movie.
I’d put on a playlist — think Billie Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter, maybe a little RosΓ© or Ariana — and just walk around the neighborhood like I was on a runway. The wind would hit my hair, and I’d pretend I was the main character for a second. π
And for those 10 minutes, the world felt a little softer. A little more mine.
π¦ Ice Cream at the Wrong Time of Day
One day, I ate ice cream for breakfast.
Don’t judge me. I was having a bad night the night before, and the next morning I was like: why not?
So I had vanilla ice cream at 9:30AM, while watching cartoons on my laptop, curled up on the couch in an oversized hoodie. And it healed something in me. Truly.
π§Ί Doing Absolutely Nothing... On Purpose
Some days, I just sat on a blanket outside with no plans. No phone. No goals.
Just me, warm air, birds, maybe a notebook, and whatever snack I had nearby.
It wasn’t “productive.” But it was peaceful.
And peace is underrated.
π¦ Random Beautiful Things I Noticed
– A butterfly landed on my hand for like 2 seconds and I almost cried.
– The sunset turned pink and orange like cotton candy and I gasped.
– A little kid waved at me from their bike and I waved back and smiled like an idiot.
– The scent of someone’s perfume passed me on the street and it brought back a memory I didn’t know I missed.
– I saw someone playing guitar at the park and I sat down nearby just to listen.
These are the moments I live for. The ones you don’t post. The ones you don’t plan. The ones that just… happen.
πΈ I Took So Many Random Pictures (and I Don’t Regret It)
Not to post. Just to remember.
Pictures of my messy breakfast. My chipped nail polish. My cat sleeping in the weirdest position. My shadow on the pavement. The sky at 7:42 PM.
I used to think life had to be “picture perfect.” Now I just think it needs to be yours.
π What I Learned This Summer
-
You don’t have to do something amazing to have an amazing day.
-
Slowing down doesn’t mean falling behind.
-
Smiling for no reason is the best kind of smiling.
-
The sun on your skin is a love language.
-
Peace comes in the quietest moments.
-
You’re allowed to enjoy your own company.
-
Little joys matter more than you think.
π¬ If You’re Reading This…
I hope this summer has brought you something beautiful — even if it was small.
Maybe it was a good cup of coffee. Or a laugh that made your belly hurt. Or a day where you didn’t feel anxious. Or just one minute of silence where everything felt okay.
Whatever it was, I hope you let yourself enjoy it.
Because that’s what life is about.
Not the big moments. But the little ones. The ones that make you pause, take a deep breath, and think:
“I love this. Right here. Right now.”
