20 Things to Do During Summer When You're Bored (From One Teen to Another)

Hey guys!

So... welcome to my little corner of the internet. This post is honestly for those days when you wake up during summer break, look around your room, and think: "Okay, what now?" ๐Ÿ˜… You’ve slept in, you’ve scrolled TikTok, you’ve checked all your apps… and now what?

You’re not alone. I’ve felt like that so many times, just lying in bed wondering if I’m wasting my summer. So today, I wanted to write down a little list of 20 things teens (aka us!) can do when we’re bored during summer — things that don’t cost much, but make your day actually feel fun, happy, and kind of productive (but like, chill-productive, not school-productive).

So grab a snack, maybe open your notes app or a cute notebook, and let’s plan a good day together! ๐Ÿ’•

๐ŸŒž Morning Routine (aka Lazy Girl Productive Vibes)

09:00 – Wake up, queen ๐Ÿ‘‘

I know, I know. It’s summer, we don’t wake up at 7 anymore. But around 9 or 10 is nice — you’re rested but not wasting the whole day. When you open your eyes, don’t grab your phone right away. Just lie there for a minute and think of something good. Like “Yay, I’m alive and I get to enjoy this day!”

09:30 – Freshen up ๐Ÿ›

Go wash your face, brush your teeth, maybe put on a cute outfit or something that makes you feel good. If you’re into skincare, do a little morning routine. If not, just splash cold water and smile in the mirror. (I do that, no joke.)

10:00 – Go outside, maybe? ๐ŸŒฟ

If the sun is out, why not go to the beach or just take a walk around your block or to a nearby park? You can go with your family, a friend, or even by yourself. Bring headphones or a little speaker and blast your favorite songs.

Nature + music = therapy.

10:30 – Beach time / Park time / Just-do-something-outside time ๐ŸŒŠ

If you’re lucky to live near the sea (jealous), bring a book, snacks, and sunscreen. Swim, collect shells, take pictures, build a sandcastle (idc if you’re 16 — it’s fun).

If not, take a blanket and chill somewhere green. Or even on your balcony with some iced tea.

๐Ÿ Afternoon (Reset, Rest, Create)

13:00 – Go home, shower, eat lunch

After being out, taking a nice shower feels SO good. Then eat something you love. Even a sandwich or salad can hit different after sunshine. Or treat yourself to pasta. I always want pasta.

15:00 – Nap or chill time ๐Ÿ’ค

Naps are actually powerful. Even a 20-minute nap helps. Or you can listen to calm music, read, scroll Pinterest, paint your nails, or do absolutely nothing and enjoy it.

16:00 – Try something creative or new ๐ŸŽจ

Here’s where you can actually do cool stuff instead of saying “I’m bored” for 2 hours. Some ideas:

Start a Canva project (make a mood board, vision board, or planner)

Write in a journal

Design a digital product

Try digital drawing or edits

Learn how to blog (even if you're under 18 and can’t post it, you can still practice)

Try coding (free on websites like code.org or Khan Academy)

Start writing a story, even if it’s just for fun

Doing something small but new makes your brain happy. I promise.

18:00 – Help around the house ๐Ÿงน

Okay, hear me out: cleaning your room or helping with dinner can actually make you feel better. Light a candle, play music, fold clothes. You’ll feel proud afterwards and your mom will love you extra today.

๐ŸŒ‡ Evening (Golden Hour + Soft Girl Vibes)

20:00 – Go out again (yes, again) ✨

Evenings are so pretty in summer. The sky looks like a painting. Go for a little walk again. Take pictures, get ice cream, sit on a bench and think about life. Or just hang with a friend and laugh about dumb stuff.

21:30 – Cozy time ๐Ÿ›‹️

Change into pajamas. Do skincare if you want. Get comfy with a blanket and pick a movie, show, or a book. Or scroll aesthetic YouTube videos (I watch journaling ones or dreamy music mixes lol).

22:00 – Reflect ๐Ÿ’ญ

Before bed, write down 3 things you liked about today. It can be silly or deep. Like:

“The sun felt nice on my skin”

“I laughed so hard at that TikTok”

“I actually did something today” It helps your brain sleep better, for real.

23:00 – Lights out ๐Ÿ’ค

Put your phone on airplane mode (try it) and just breathe. You did good today.

๐ŸŽ€ Bonus 9 Things To Do Any Day, Any Time

If routines aren’t your thing, that’s okay too. Here’s a list of fun/random things you can do whenever:

1. Start a Summer Scrapbook (with photos, drawings, notes)

2. Make aesthetic wallpapers for your phone or laptop

3. Try baking something — even if it fails, it’s fun

4. Decorate your mirror with positive quotes

5. Do a random photo shoot (use props, go wild)

6. Try a new makeup look just for fun

7. Write a letter to your future self

8. Make a playlist and name it something cute like “sunburned memories”

9. Create a time capsule (bury or hide it and open next summer)

๐ŸŒˆ Final Little Talk

Look, you don’t need to have a perfect summer. You don’t need to travel the world or have a glow-up or make $$$ from some online hustle (unless you want to!).

You just need to feel good about your days — even if that means doing small things.

Some days you’ll be lazy, other days creative. That’s part of being human. Just don’t let boredom eat up your whole break.

Even doing one fun thing a day is enough. ๐Ÿ’•

If you liked this post, maybe share it with a friend who says “I’m bored” every 5 minutes ๐Ÿ˜‚

Or save it for yourself on the days when you don’t know what to do.

With love,
